Man praises his Malden neighbors

To the Editor:

Malden Takes Care of Its Senior Citizens.

My wife, Gloria, and I live on Highway J five miles west of Malden on top of Riddle Hill, for 14 years. I will turn 85 my next birthday. I am not silly enough to tell you my wife's age.

During the past weeks we have had snow storms, winds and rain washing away my roads, making it impossible to get into town. Six days with the snow, we tried to get to town ending up in the ditch. Passing by a young man with a winch on his Jeep pulled me out of the ditch. Our drive way is made of white rock, the rock was full of ditches.

A young man passed and went and brought a four-wheel drive tractor with buckets on front and back. He filled the low places and cut down the hill and none of these men would take anything but thank you.

I will not tell the names of these great people. My wife and I know who they are and will never forget them or their kindness.
