Tharp fans 10 in Naylor's win
NAYLOR -- Shayna Tharp had 10 strikeouts and allowed three hits to lead Naylor to a 5-3 home win over Greenville on Monday.
Brooklyn Urich scored four runs with three hits and three RBIs. Kayla Johnson had three hits and two RBIs for Naylor.
Bailey White led Greenville by going 2-for-3. She also pitched and had a strikeout with 11 hits against. Sarah Hillis was 1-for-3.
Van Buren 27, Couch 1 Freshman Summer Shockley got her second win from the circle for the Lady Dawgs on Monday.
In the 3-innning blowout, she allowed two hits and a walk with six strikeouts for Van Buren (8-3). She also scored three runs with four RBIs and three htis. Kiley Staley had four hits and three runs scored.
Jaysa Jenkins had two doubles, three RBIs and scored three times. Cil Cipponeri and Logan Hayworth both scored four times.
Hayley Burnham scored three times with two hits and three RBIs. Hannah truncone and Lisa Burnham each had two RBIs and Truncone scored three times.
Senath-Hornersville 4, Malden 3 Blake Tinsley hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for the Green Wave on Monday, but Malden (5-3) never led in the close loss.
Katie Goodman pitched in the loss and did not give up an earned run. Allison Hampton was 3-for-4 with a double.
Caruthersville 8, Campbell 7 Brittany Weston went 2-for-3 with a double for the Lady Tigers, who lost Monday on a walk-off single with the bases loaded.
Katie Holloway was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Ashleigh Bedwell was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Holloway started in the circle for Campbell and pitched 5 1/3 with two strikeouts, three hit batters and four walks against. Jordan Cochran finished the game and had one strikeout with a walk and a hit batter.
Portageville 15, Campbell 0 The Lady Tigers suffered a no-hitter over five innings. They earned four walks and struck out three times Monday.
West County 5, Clearwater 4 The Lady Tigers and and Lady Bulldogs needed extra innings Monday.
West County scored twice in the top of the eighth and Clearwater (8-4) scored a run and left the tying run at second base to in the game in the bottom of the inning.
West County took a 3-0 lead in the top of the sixth but Mag E Hand tied for the Lady Tigers with a 3-run double.
Down 5-3, Darrian Gayle reached base with two outs in the eighth and Bailey Roach then drove her home with a double.
Hannah Rowold took the loss as she struck out 11, walked two and allowed five earned runs. She scattered eight hits over eight innings.
Greenville 26, Naylor 0 The Bears had 11 different players drive in runs Monday in a rout of the Eagles.
Dakota Norden and Grant Miller each had three RBIs for the Bears (11-5) while Trey McDaniel, Cody Jackson, Jacob Withrow and Lathen Blackburn had two RBIs apiece.
McDaniel, Withrow, Miller and Ben Becker each scored three runs.
Norden was the winning pitcher with no hits allowed through two innings.
Marcus Rigdon had the lone Eagles (0-6) hit.
Portageville 13, Campbell 8 The Bulldogs put a stop to the Camels' winning streak at ten games Monday.
Portageville hit four homers while Christian Deen and Tommy Steward went deep for Campbell (10-2).
SOCCER The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules suffered their second setback to St. Vincent this season as they dropped a road game, 6-0.
The Lady Indians won a game against Poplar Bluff (3-12) 1-0 back on March 28.
It was the 10th time this year the Lady Mules were held without a goal.
The Lady Mules host district and conference opponent Jackson at 5 p.m. Thursday.
GOLF Poplar Bluff's junior varsity team finished second to the defending Class 1 state champs Monday at St. Albans Country Club.
Jake Richardson shot a 13-over-par 85 to lead the Mules to a 367. Barat Academy won with a 343.
Brandon Knowlton shot 91, Colton Carpenter 95 and Cody Crittendon 96 for the Mules along with Justin Capps (120) and Analeise Pyland (122).
