Voter upset with Senator Libla

Last Friday morning I attended a meeting of business people and homeowners concerning the Highway 160 Project. The meeting was well attended with Senator Libla and Representative Cookson as well as the top MoDOT engineer present. I must say I was very disappointed and offended by the attitude of Senator Libla. In your opening statement, you said you were not sure why you were here and you knew nothing about the project, but, Mr. Libla, you're a fast learner. Within five minutes you knew more than anyone else there. When concerned participants had questions they were met with a very rude, arrogant attitude. He said to many of them to be quiet. Let others talk. There truly was a gap between those who have and those who have not. It was very clear that we were seen as second-class citizens as Senator Libla's catch-phrase continued to be said over and over again. "You can't legislate intelligence."

Mr. Libla, I'm in agreement. Since those in legislation seem so out of touch with common people they serve, I question your (their) intelligence. But then to qualify for Mr. Libla and Cookson's foul and rude attitude, we were told they were both tired from all their work in Jefferson City. If this position is too taxing for these men that they can't function outside the walls of the State Capital then perhaps they should resign or maybe we, the second class citizens who lack intelligence should assist them in the next election.

Leave my wood fire alone

As our president continues to push his environmental agenda, one of the most recent points that is quite disturbing considering many that live in the rural communities around our nation is the fact of the new regulation banning wood stoves. That's right, America! They are intending to ban nearly all wood stoves. What will that do to the poor who heat their homes using renewable wood sources. Mind you I consider that green energy, but apparently environmentalists consider the burning of wood which locks the carbon into the process does so much more damage to our environment when we burn it. So here again environmentalists leading the charge to turn the poor even poorer by forcing them to use natural gas, propane, electricity, which also is going to soar in prices making it more of an entitlement for a person instead of individual who can remain independent by heating their home they see fit.

So, it's your choice, America, do we continue to allow this out of control government to regulate every aspect of or lives or do we finally draw a line in the sand and say, "Enough is enough!?" I know this having been a Democrat. I no longer am and I'm voting a straight Republican ticket next time. Maybe America needs to wake up that they are being used by this party and do the same as well.

Disgruntled about roads

Hi, I was calling about the article in the paper about what the boys that take care of the roads said. It's my understanding that road 605 is out off of 53 Highway and naturally they can't grade down there because, you know, that's swamp area down there, but my road--CR 482 and CR 480 and all these roads out my way they could be graded. They're dry enough. They just need some gravel put on. We haven't had our roads graded in, goodness, I don't know how long it's been since we've had our roads graded. To me, they don't do their best for the roads. When they do anything they do the wrong thing. If they can't take a whole load of gravel, I believe probably a 10-year-old child would understand if you can't take a whole load of gravel you could take a half-a-load and put it in a hole and take a smaller vehicle than the grader to spread it around. Maybe just a farm tractor with a blade or something like that. To me, I think they think that we, the taxpayers, are idiots and we're not! We're plenty smart. So anyway that's my opinion and I called Speak Out to give my opinion and that is my opinion. You don't go over on the east side where the ground is so low so that water stands and say you can't grade the road. Come out south of town on the high roads and see what you can do. Thank you very much. I am a disgruntled Butler County citizen over the roads. I know something can be done better than what's being done. Thank you.

Throw'em out

in the ocean

Whenever I read or hear news about child being molested my blood boils. "Man Guilty of Molesting Girl, 3" in Wednesday's paper. We read that Jesse Brian Mann faces 5-15 years in prison. That's all?! That's not justice for such a sick crime! What needs to be done to this creep and the child murderer in Springfield and thousands of others sick, perverted beasts who molest little children and who are involved in child pornography is found in Matthew 18:6--Jesus said, "Whosoever shall offend these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for him if a millstone about his neck and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea." Nothing but shark bait! Use them for shark food. Throw 'em out in the ocean. That's what I say!

Keep puttin'

Jensen in paper

I just want to say that the articles that Mike Jensen put in each week. I just want you to keep puttin' in there. He's a good guy. Thank you.

Where's the strickers

There are several parents in the morning at O'Neal School who drive very expensive vehicles and their children run to get inside the building so I don't think any of them are handicapped. They have no handicapped stickers or handicapped license plates and yet they park in the handicapped spots so that they don't have to go around and get in line like every other parent. I think that even if your kids are gonna be there for, you know, a minute or two, it is still wrong and you are sending a very bad message to the kids that you are more important than the law and you are definitely more important than the rules. You're better than everybody else! I think these people should be given a ticket for parking in handicapped parking spaces knowingly day after day. Thank you.
