Vote your

opinion

I for one am gonna go to the opinion box and vote my opinion because somebody in the state goofed up and sold all our information to private firms and telemarketers and now they keep calling you and calling you and calling you up to 9 o'clock at night. Somebody's head ought to roll. I said that once before but it never was put in the paper, but somebody oughta have to be fired over that . . . that . . . that slip-up. Our private information is supposed to stay private. It's not for telemarketers and stuff like that. And to give it to outside firms one of these days they will sell it, you know, to make a profit. I don't care if he's a Republican or a Democrat--one of these days they will sell it. So people vote "no" on it. Vote your opinion. Thank you.

Cost of renting

I would like to speak out regarding the price of rent in Poplar Bluff. I recently moved back from St. Louis. I lived there for a few years and the rental prices are comparable to those in St. Louis. However, the wages are no where near what people are paid in St. Louis. I think it's ridiculous and I figured first step would be to speak out my opinion. Thank you.

Join this century

Yeah, people, the brick streets are part of your heritage here in Poplar Bluff, but so are outhouses. Get in the 21st Century, Get ride of the wore out brick streets. Thank you.

Waiting for care

I have a friend who has been hospitalized at the Cape mental unit at Southeast Hospital twice in the past fee months. He's had a restraining order against him. He's homicidal, suicidal, anxious and he has post-traumatic stress disorder. He finally was able to get service-connected for these problems and went to the local VA and saw the psychiatrist who he was very impressed with. The psychiatrist prescribed his medicine and wrote on the paper "Return in three months." When he went out and gave that to the clerk, the clerk said, Well, we'll put you on waiting list.

WHAT? The waiting list!

Staying secure?

I noticed today that our local social security office was closed. We asked the guard when it was going to reopen and strangely, he can't give out that information for reasons of security. Is this just some more of the nonsense of our president closing offices and airport towers and the White House to tours all to inflict more damage upon the Republicans for the sequestration which was his idea in the first place? As a taxpayer in America and wanting to access social security needs, I'm a little more than miffed at the nonsense of our president inflicting more harm on the public to twist the arms of the Republicans to bow to his whim. Mr. President, cut the billions and billions and billions and billions of billions in wasted overlapping programs and please, Mr. President, defund robotic squirrels before your party becomes known for that debacle.
