Raiders

great program

Recently an article in "Speakout" condemned the Raiders basketball team. Back in an earlier day, 1993 I believe, a similar article appeared in the DAR and it was brought to the Raider dressing room for discussion.

A fine young man by the name of Anthony Rodebush from Van Buren commented on the article with wisdom beyond his age. He said, "Coach, people like success but they don't like successful people."

I praise God for being able to be in a position I have been in for the last forty-three years. Some of the finest people that have ever walked this earth are former Raiders. This article brought a degree of introspection on the impact that these former Raiders have on this community and beyond.

It is with great joy that I point out a few Raiders that are impacting this community; two former Raiser are currently serving on the TRC Board of Trustees helping lead our great college, another one is a very successful pastor and community leader; one is a leading realtor; one is an outstanding farmer; a successful accountant. One is a Poplar Bluff School Administrator and several Coaches are doing a great job working with our young people in this community; Naylor, Poplar Bluff, Dexter, etc.

Other former Raiders please understand that you are equally important, and remember "Once a Raider, always a Raider."

And, thanks "Speakout person" for bringing attention to our great Raider program.

Secede, take the House with you

Totally Disgusted! All those people that want to secede from the union, I'd be glad if they would go and also take the U. S. House of Representatives with them. Thank you and good-bye.

Obama, Keep your word

Obama. We need Obama to stay the course. Do not bend or sway your promise. Keep your word. You've got my vote. Thank you.

God bless you John Boehner

John Boehner--I am so proud of you for standing up for your filthy rich friends. I doubt that they will print this in Speak Out, so God bless you and good luck. You will need it.

Unhappy and cold renter

I am lady who rents. I pay my rent on time and is a good tenant. I would like to know why it is such a problem for landlords to give their tenants an emergency number in the event of an emergency event after hours and weekends? Recently my heating element went out and I had no way to contact the landlord. It was very cold in my unit for two days and nights. I know that landlords are too tight to pay companies an after-hour fee and that is why they have no emergency number. All they want is their rent. That's a bad situation for everyone who rents and is a good tenant. Thank you.
