We should stand up more often

Monday, August 20, 2012

To the Editor:

I really appreciated the articles on the opinion page in the Sunday, Aug. 5th newspaper.

I am proud of Mr. Dan Cathy for standing up for his Christian beliefs! We should "stand up" for Jesus more often, even when we know that others will not agree! I'm sure that others will not agree! I'm sure that Mr. Cathy knew that he might be "put down" for his statements, but he was willing to "go the extra mile" for Jesus.

The people who are protesting Mr. Cathy and his beliefs don't have to patronize his businesses. The same way for each of us. If we don't wish to patronize a business, that is our choice. It is also our choice to state our beliefs, religious or other.

When we can't stand up and voice our Christian beliefs, then our rights are being taken from us, which is what the Constitution gives us. Our opinion doesn't force anyone to agree with us.

If we were Muslim, (I have nothing against these people), we would be respected for our beliefs, but not Christians, we are only "put down" for our beliefs.

I'm sure any person who enters any Chick-fil-A are treated with respect, regardless of their beliefs.

Thank you again for being willing to print these articles.
