Ellsinore Alumni Assn. says 'thank you'

To the Editor:

The Ellsinore Alumni Banquet was held May 22, 2012, with 198 Alumni and guests in attendance.

There were nine classes who had special reunions, they were as follows: Class of 1947-65 years; Class of 1952-60 years; Class of 1967-45 years; Class of 1972-40 years; Class of 1977-35 years; Class of 1992-20 years and the Class of 2012 had a special table also. As always the Class of 1953 had a special table, but this year they were practicing for their 60th anniversary in 2013.

A delicious meal was served by Tasteful Creations from Qulin, Mo. After the meal, we handed out door prizes which were all donated and greatly appreciated. The donations were made by the following individuals and businesses in the area: Paul O'Dell of Pro Equipment Repair, Charles and Charlotte Crowley, Steve Brooks at The Store, Erica Douglas at Leer Jax, Larry and Jean Clyburn at the Log Cabin, David Kearbey at Van Dykes Lumber, Tom and Marilyn Simmons at Simmons Grocery and Hardware, Bank of Grandin, Ellsinore Branch, and Kathy Dalton, Special Occasions Florist, all located at Ellsinore, Mo. Ben Thies Mgr. Colton's, Bruce Hutson at Baldwin Ford, Dennis Outdoors, Tanya Scott at Burger Kind, Steve Sells at McDonalds, Walmart, Bob Smith at Pizza Inn, all located at Poplar Bluff, Mo. John Baliff, Shelter Insurance, and Rocky Kingree's Law Office of Van Buren, Mo. And last but not lease Edith Wright of Zalma, Mo.

The Class of 1967 donated a beautiful quilt to be raffled off to raise money for the scholarship fund. Many tickets were sold and Lawrence Cooper of the Class of 1967 was the lucky winner. The quilt was made by Hazel Tripp who is a member of the Class of 1967. We really appreciate the contribution. Thank you.

After the door prizes were handed out there was a short business meeting and the incumbent offices were re-elected for another years. They are as follows: Janet Hampton President, Barbara Dalton Vice President and Lillie McCollumn Secretary-Treasurer.

The Alumni Association would like to send a sincere Thank You to all the businesses and individuals who donated a gift for the door prize segment of the banquet. Everyone seemed to enjoy the get together and catching up with former classmates and friends. I hope to see everyone at the banquet in 2013.
