Habitat for Humanity opens Surplus Sales store

Thursday, May 24, 2012

On Jan. 7, Poplar Bluff Habitat for Humanity opened a Surplus Sales store located at 415 Vine St. in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

"The purpose of the store is to provide the necessary funds to build homes locally through the sale of donated items, our intent is to focus on selling building materials, but we will take about anything we don't have to feed, except clothes, televisions or electronics," said Gary Davis.

Davis said, "We currently have a large selection of doors, windows and cabinets, but we also have some nice furniture and pictures. We have something to interest anyone from homeowners and landlords to the do-it-yourselfers, and if it happens you don't find something, keep checking back because different items arrive all the time."

"The Habitat Surplus Sales store helps everyone in our community. We provide a place for folks to purchase items at prices that in many cases are 75 percent or more off retail. In our present economy we all can use that help. All donations are tax deductible, with proceeds from sales used to build homes for members of the local community that could not otherwise own a home," Davis continued.

"We encourage anyone interested in donating or making a purchase to come by the store or call us at (573) 683-3043. We are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. We hope to see you soon," Davis said.
