When local fans tune into TLC to watch Extreme Couponing at 8 p.m. Monday, they may be surprised to see one of their own. Erin Sanders of Poplar Bluff, Mo., will be featured on the Season 3 premiere episode.

Sanders has been couponing for about a year and a half. She had watched the show from its beginning and decided to try couponing to see if it really worked. Armed with coupons, she went to Kroger's and left the store with a cart full of free stuff. From then on, Erin said, "I was hooked on couponing."

About a year ago, she sent an email to Extreme Couponing, praising their show and telling them of her success as a couponer.

"I didn't hear for a long time," Sanders said, "then in November of last year, they contacted me and said they were interested." She went on to say, "I guess they liked my stockpile."

They could tell from her accumulation (of coupons) Sanders knew what she was doing.

The premiere episode for Season 3 was filmed in February at the Food Giant in Sikeston, Mo. Filming took three days, Sanders said. They came in on Wednesday and left on Friday.

"I was so excited and really nervous," Sanders said. But, she noted the crew put her at ease - they felt like family.

Two couponers will be featured in this episode. Sanders' segment is approximately 15 minutes. She's shown using her couponing skills and accumulating a number of carts of free merchandise.

Sanders, her husband of nearly 15 years, Scott, and their three children, Jaid, 13, Scotty, 6, and Trey, 4, will tune to TLC and Extreme Couponing to watch as she shows off her couponing skills.
