Las Margaritas: Celebrating 15-year anniversary
The past 15 years have been great for Francisco Esquivel, owner of Las Margaritas, 2144 N. Westwood Blvd., in the Poplar Bluff Square Shopping Center.
He opened the doors on the Mexican restaurant on March 27, 1997, and the business has continually grown since then. Esquivel thanks everyone for their support and added he is really enjoying being part of such a "great, great town."
When a customer walks into Las Margaritas, its like walking into a part of Mexico with traditional colors and authentic music, furniture and a taste of Mexican culture.
Most of the employees of Las Margaritas are from Mexico.
"They are great employees who offer great service," Esquivel said. But, he added all the servers have a lot of skills they must learn as well as a system to learn.
The quality of food served at the restaurant is extremely important to keep customers coming back. The Mexican kitchen staff has been with the restaurant for 13 years, which means a menu item ordered today will taste the same as it did a year ago.
All menu items are authentic Mexican dishes, Esquivel said. The menu is continually being changed and new items added to remain competitive.
Also, Esquivel said everyday when he walks into the restaurant, he personally tastes everything that has been prepared.
Since opening, he has added a private dining or party area to the restaurant for large gatherings. Further growth in the future is possible, he added.
Mayas Restaurant, also owned by Esquivel, recently completed renovations on its upstairs party room. The room seats 80 people, has several large screen televisions and a fully stocked bar. It has become a gathering place for sporting enthusiasts waiting to watch the big game. Mayas is located at 940 S. Westwood Blvd.
