A big thank you to Buff Up Bluff helpers

To the Editor

I am writing this to thank all of the volunteers and groups that participated in Buff Up the Bluff. The Poplar Bluff Community Betterment has sponsored the volunteer effort for over 20 years for the elderly curbside pickup and roadway trash pickup.

As of this month PBCBC is disbanding the organization after making numerous improvements and contributions to the community over the years.

Several longtime CBC members have made significant efforts for Poplar Bluff improvements.

Riley Mathias did many plantings along highways and interchanges over several years in cooperation with Butch Anderson and other CBC members. The "Poplar Bluff - Gateway to the Ozarks" sign north of town is also the work of the CBC members.

Pat Hoppes and Robin Till have taken care of feeding the Buff the Bluff volunteers for several years at First Presbyterian Church, which Pat attends. RSVP volunteers have always taken calls for the elderly pick up list. Angela Cochran, myself, Mayor Ed DeGaris, Nicole Loyd, Eastern District Commissioner Butch Anderson have all picked up for the elderly residents for many years. The City Street Department, McCoy's Scrap and Allied Waste have always been on site for cleanup days.

The efforts of these good citizens and all the other CBC members over the years is much appreciated; I've enjoyed working with everyone on all the projects and on-going programs.

A sincere thanks to all.
