headline

I just read the letter in Speak Out about the article on "God's Speed John Glenn." The man or woman who called that in --they're not the only one who thought the guy was dead when they read that headline. I figured he'd died. That was really a kind of a dumb headline.

Be a

slave to God

Hi. This is in response to the church sign being disturbing. I don't think it's the church missing the point. Read 2 Peter in the Bible. "You are a slave to whatever controls you." Wouldn't you rather be a slave to God and let Him control you instead of the sin in this world?

holler USA

Yeah. I was just watching the Channel 12 news -- it was about kids down in San Antonio basketball game shouting USA and the other team disappointed because they were hollerin' "USA" and all of them Hispanics on both sides. What they're not sayin' was the other team was illegal aliens here in the United States or what is students or kids of illegal aliens, or what? When people from Mexico comes up here they show their flag and demonstrate their flag on demonstrations and stuff and holler "Viva Mexico," "Viva Mexico," and wave their flag and everythin' if their Old Glory we don't say nothin' about that. I think if Hispanic people that's American citizens are proud to be Americans then they ought to be able say "USA." Other sports teams do it. The only way I would think the other team would be offended by it if they were illegal aliens or somethin' or wasn't American citizens. I think if you're Hispanic, Italian, no matter what you are, if you're proud to be an American holler "USA!" If you're not American citizen, then sit back and enjoy it. Thank you.

Willie Nelson

I went to the last Willie Nelson concert that we had here at the coliseum. I was just wonderin' when are we gonna get Willie back again? I know he's over in Cape Girardeau. When are we gonna get him back here in Poplar Bluff? We live Willie Nelson. Thank you.
