Disappointed in

Neelyville Board

I am disappointed that the Neelyville school board just dismissed concerns by a fellow member about the school lunches. The cafeteria does not serve enough food for the kids. I know that there are government regulations on the lunch program, I also know this outfit is there to make money. They have ways to make it look like they are receiving more than they are. The kids are asked if they want the veggie or fruit and if they say yes then they are given it. A lot of children are still hungry after they eat and would go ahead and eat the wholesome food if it were just placed on the tray. The quantity they are given of all food is too small, four chicken nuggets for teenagers is too little. Also the option of a soup and salad bar is really they can have soup or salad.

Neelyville is located in an economical deprived area. Although I know there is a big push to address childhood obesity, I don't see a lot of overweight children at this school. I really think getting enough food is the problem around here. Both the principals and superintendent need to address this problem. I couldn't sleep at night knowing a child may be going without because some company was depriving them to make money. For many children the food they get at school is about all they get.

I would like for the school board members to talk to the teachers, the ones who really know what is served to their kids. Then go down and eat the same tray as the elementary and older children eat and see what your opinion is. When you were elected to school board the people voted for you because they thought you would protect our kids, you need to step up now!
