Letter to the Editor

Be heard, attend Republican caucus

Thursday, February 9, 2012

To the Editor,

We all know the Presidential primary in Missouri was not binding and we know the reasons why. We regret that it did not get moved to a date which would make it matter; however, bemoaning that fact and not moving forward is non-productive. What we have left is the Caucus System. It is what it is and it is what is left.

Since this is the case, Republicans in Butler County have the chance to be heard in the Presidential race by embracing our responsibilities to attend the Butler County Caucus at 10 a.m., March 17, 2012, at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Campus of Three Rivers College. This is where we can start the ball rolling to make sure that Missourians are fully and appropriately represented at the Republican National Convention.

Our great nation is at a turning point on as grand a scale as it has ever been. Many like to call Speak Out and complain or write editorials that represent frustrations regarding federal policy or elected officials. These expressions of annoyance or disagreement are rendered useless unless they are followed by action. Our system of elections in Missouri this year affords us a tremendous opportunity, and if we do not take advantage of it, we will not be heard and our ranting, shouting, and expressions of displeasure will fall on deaf ears.

It does not take much to make a difference. If you are a Republican, and if you want to be counted among those who are making a difference, attend the caucus. Show up early and register. Freedom does not just exist. It takes effort. Make that effort on March 17.
