To the Editor:

On Dec. 21, 2011, Lake Wappapello United Methodist Church gave away 209 family Christmas food baskets and gave toys to 111 children during our annual Christmas basket give-a-way.

We send out a big "Thank You" to those countless people who donated food at the VFW and just happened to "drop by" the church with a trunk load of food. (Please forgive me if your name has not been included.)

A big "thanks" to all our volunteers: Pastor Jeff Estes, Natalie Estes, Ruth & Lonnie Hargrove, Charli Hoover, Dorothy & Charlie Brotherton, Erma Michael, Dave Hampton, Donna Almond, Sherry Szczblewski, Janice Matthews, Dot Temples, Pat Libla and Margaret Kasting. A special thank you goes to Vicki Perlo for her yearlong effort to gather toys for this project.

An extra special thank you goes to the Young Adults group of the First United Methodist Church, Poplar Bluff, for their assistance with putting the food baskets together. You guys are awesome!

Thank you all so much for making this a better Christmas for those less fortunate in Wayne County.
