Dumbest Things on Four Wheels

Illiteracy is not, I repeat, not being combated well across Poplar Bluff. And, by that I mean, do you know Poplar Bluff what illiteracy means? Of course, you know. That means you can't read. And by that I mean throughout our whole community I see people that simply cannot read and by that I mean the handicapped signs are being ignored all throughout our community. The "No Parking" signs that are posted all in front of Walmart. You know the ones that say "fire lane" "towing zone" all throughout our community. Is our community not teaching our people to read? Has TRC, our high schools, our junior highs--have they failed our community? Are the adults, the high school students, has everyone in our community just given up on reading? Now, mind you, you might be taking this as a facetious call, but not at just this busy time of the year but throughout all of the year. But, this is being given has a warning because soon a video vigilante is going to be hitting the streets of Poplar Bluff. Oh, yes! Thanks to the likes of the channel on 42 -- you know the one -- You Too and the likes of others like Facebook and one on another like channel that has program called, "Dumbest Things on Four Wheels" where you can send in videotaped programs that you see. Well, Poplar Bluff is going to become a well-known city across this nation of ours. All due to the likes of a video vigilante. If the city cannot learn to read and learn quickly. Just a heads up, Poplar Bluff. You've got 90 days. Just a short little time so get crackin' them books.

Give your heart

The best gift that you can give Jesus for Christmas is to give your heart to Him. Get saved. That would make Him so happy. Why don't you think about it? Do that and make Jesus real happy.

An act of God

Yeah, the City wrote me a letter here a violation. A tree blowed down a little over a year ago from a bad storm comin' through in the backyard of a resident of mine on the East side. The kids have a lot of fun playing on that tree. There ain't no big limbs or nothing on it. Just laying out there, big old pecan log, and they have a lot of fun on that there, but the City told me I gotta cut it all up and remove it. Now to me that's an act of God. God blowed that tree down, you know, His wind come along and blowed that down. That's an act of God. Who am I? A little bitty landowner here to rule over God and say, "Hey, you blowed my tree down, I'm gonna cut it up and get it out of here." He must want it down there or He wouldn't have blowed it down. Thank you.

Drive with care

I would like to appeal to all the drivers in Poplar Bluff. I was out Christmas shopping today and your driving, never that well to begin with, and it's even worse right now. Please be careful. You've used up all my goodwill and courtesy for this year so if you're counting on me to stop and get out of your way don't count on it! Like I say, you've used up all my goodwill for this year. So, please be courteous with other people and be safe above all and just stop this reckless crazy driving you've gotten into the habit of. Thank you.

Need a job

Yes, you may or may not print this. I will rest with the satisfaction of being able to speak out. I want to speak out about the assistance for the low income family in the Butler County area or the lack thereof and the fact that me and my wife have a three year old son and we're looking at being evicted because there is no assistance to help us. Water is getting ready to get shut off probably in the morning. The fact that the Chamber of Commerce of Poplar Bluff needs to honestly see about to attract more job opportunities to the area so that the lower class or lower income family have more of an opportunity to meet their obligations with their rent and their utilities and so on and so forth. We're lookin' at our three year old son not even having any Christmas because the fact that I'm not working. I've been all over town everywhere, put in applications and I was working through Express Personnel, but yet even though I called them every morning as well a Pro Staffing. But, I'm still now working. I was working through Express but then I got a call that said the place where I was working had to let me go. So, I've called them every morning religiously trying to get back into the work force and now here it is Christmas a week away and I'm still not working. If you would please print it, if not that's fine, I just appreciate the opportunity to speak out about it and speak out my mind about it. Thank you.
