Holy Cross Blue Christmas service

Friday, December 9, 2011

Holy Cross Episcopal Church will hold it's Blue Christmas service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21. For those unfamiliar with it, the Blue Christmas Service is designed for those who are grieving due to the loss of a loved one, a recent personal or loved one's diagnosis, break-up of a marriage, loss of a job or a home, economic stress or coping with depression. For those dealing with these and other struggles, Christmas can be a stressful time. Everyone else seems to be happy and enjoying the festivities associated with the holiday unaware of others' struggles during this time. This service is for those who are often overlooked this time of the year and for those who cannot get into the spirit of the season. Many people find this service a comfort simply because they are overwhelmed by holiday stress and fatigue brought on by the commercialization of Christmas.
