Unemployed!

I've always got along with the police department. Have a lot of respect for 'em. But, here Thanksgiving night, when they come out to a house and arrested a women with three babies on a misdemeanor charge and put a $500 cash only bond on her until after the holiday that is absolutely heartless! Heartless! Heartless! Heartless! And, unthoughtful! I hope St. Nick don't even come and see none of them cops this year. That is just absolutely ridiculous. Why couldn't they wait until Friday morning even to do everything 'cause she ain't gonna go nowhere. She lives here with her three kids and they come out and put her in a jailhouse with a $500 only cash bond and she's unemployed! What do they expect? Blood from a turnip? Shame on you, Poplar Bluff Police Department! Shame on you! I hope God has mercy on your souls when it's all over. Thank you.

Out of special sales items

You know these businesses on Black Friday and these Thanksgiving sales? You wait outside in the cold for 'em to open up and then you get inside there and products they list for a real cheap price --they don't even have! They're out of them before the doors even open and never had 'em to start with. They ought not be allowed to do that. That is false advertising. At least, they ought to have four or five of the items to start with, you know what I mean. They advertise a certain price, a real low price, you wait and wait in line and everything else and get in that and then they don't have it. I went down to Fred's today and everything and they never even had it. I was there when they opened. Said they were out of it a couple days ago. That don't make sense. Thank you.

A prayer, thank you for mission

Having lived in Poplar Bluff for close to 30 years now, I never thought I would get into such a situation to ever have to reach out for help, but this Thanksgiving just the mere thought of not being able to sit around the table with family and give thanks over that meal means so much to many, just absolutely broke my heart. But, never having seen thanks given back to those at the Rescue Mission that provide these wonderful meals to so many throughout our community, I want to give thanks to them for the wonderful meal they provided my wife and me. Yes, things may occasionally go against us, but let us never forget to give thanks not only to our Maker, but those who provide the simplest comforts at times of need. Thank you, again, ever so much to those who volunteered, gave their time so freely, delivered our meal and made us feel, at this time of the year, that we could at least sit together, husband and wife, and share thanks over a meal that so many now I see simply take for granted. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

God bless

everybody

This is a Thanksgiving prayer: Father, God, we thank you for the DAR and all the wonderful people of Poplar Bluff and all of our families and friends. What a glorious day this is to be with family and friends without any arguments. I'm not gonna complain about anybody today or anything that's been said. I'm just gonna say, God bless everybody in Poplar Bluff and Butler County and I hope they have real good prosperous year in the future and that they live for a ripe old age and all their relatives love 'em and come and see 'em and just enjoy life. I ask this in Jesus's precious name. Amen.

You can't have

it both ways

I was watching CNN and they were doing their reporting on this "Occupy Wall Street" nonsense that's going on across the country. And I noticed that this actor/activist Russell Simmons was in the group in New York City supporting the people in the "Occupy" movement. Does no one find it strange that this man is also pushing in television ads a credit card that, mind you, has to be supported by banks and other institutions to literally, mind you this is my opinion, enslave poor people to the high interest rates and fees that these credit cards charge others. Now, mind you, I'm not calling the kettle black, but that is the most rank form of hypocrisy of any activists I've ever seen. But, then again, America, you can decide. But you can't have it both ways. And, that just shows you where these people are coming from. They're playing you on one side (get my product and go in debt) and yet they're "fighting" those evil bankers and Wall Street people tooth and nail. Strange, isn't it?

Black

Thursday?

Yes, I'd just like to comment. This is apparently Black Friday or what will probably become known as Black Thursday. I just went down to Walmart -- 9:30 p.m., Thursday night--Thanksgiving night. I gotta say that the carnival atmosphere that they have created down at Walmart, I hope for everyone's sake, nobody gets hurt. Man, it is ridiculous. You know, Walmart's kinda encouraged this, but we've fallen into the trap. Our own commercialization afraid, I'm afraid. Like I say, I just hoping nobody gets hurt. It's just ridiculous. Thank you.
