PBHS Student Council thankful

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

To the Editor,

In this time of Thanksgiving, the PBHS Student Council has much to be thankful for.

We would first like to thank Mr. Stolle and Chartwells for allowing us to be part of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the high school student center. This was such a wonderful event to be involved with! We would also like to thank the students, teachers, and principals at Eugene Field and the Kindergarten Center for the artistic placemats and decorations; Major Crites, Sergeant Major Entwistle and the JROTC cadets for serving food, directing traffic and helping all around. There was over $500 donated for Haven House and many scarves, hats and gloves to be given to local children.

On Friday, Nov. 18th, PBHS hosted the Fall 2011 blood drive. We had 184 students and 40 community members sign in. Of these 224 potential donors, the Red Cross was able to collect 156 productive units - 1 over our goal! There were many businesses who donated food, drinks, and other items. These businesses include: Long John Silver's, Sara Lee, Huddle House, Deep Freeze, Burger King, Donut House, Casey's General Store, Hardee's, McDonald's, Perkin's, Rolland Stollen, Colton's, Ryan's, Steak 'n Shake, Fazoli's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, El Aculpulco, Subway, Branding Iron, Pizza Inn, Sonic, Mike and Zach's BBQ, Pizza Hut, and Papa John's. Thank you so much!!! A big thank you to the musicians, Ken Thurman and Cathy Fox. who did a wonderful job performing during the dinner." You're generosity was greatly appreciated and instrumental in a successful blood drive.

Student Council would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe holiday season.
