TV show omits

some names

Recently a story of Poplar Bluff was filmed on TV by the Discovery Channel. I watched the show and think they did a good job of giving the police department credit for their good work.

However, I remember 1992 when the Wynn Murder Case happened. That was a long time ago - but now in this film the names of some very important men who made a big difference in solving this case were not mentioned and should have been a part of the story. Donwell Clark, Bruce Goin, Chet Vaughn, Johnny Williams, the two federal policemen from the hospital - and many more names besides these.

Also the program mentioned nothing about the many prayers that were said over the years and how they were finally answered. Yes, sometimes justice doesn't come easy!

Is DAR afraid

of politics

What is it with you, Speak Out? Are you afraid to get political? Afraid to jump into the political scene? It seems that when people want to get out there and voice their opinion about the bad politics that are currently playing in America, you feign silence. Very little is seen in Speak Out on the political scene. Anonymity protects many on the idea that retaliation comes in all forms in this country political or otherwise. And being able to voice an opinion openly whether it's for or against a certain political party is key. Sadly, we don't belong to the digital information age. We don't have a computer in our home. Wish we did, but we don't. You are our only capability reaching out into the, what I would call, the blogosphere to let our opinions out. To get some sort of reaction. Gosh! How spineless is the Daily American Republic when it comes to the fact that the opinions of the people mean nothing. Right now, our country is at a tipping point. You could and should be putting a lot more in of the opinions of those, particularly when it comes to politics. But then again, the fear that drips from your pages is very evident. I only hope that you can do better in the future. I won't hold my breath.

Getting hosed

at the pumps

I did some shopping over in Cape today. Saw the gasoline prices were $3.15 a gallon, so I promptly swung in and filled up the car. When? When are the businesses in this community going to get together with the fuel distributors and say, "Enough is enough." Ask yourself, why? Other than on the paydays of social security and when the welfare checks run out in our fine community here, that seems to be about the only time you see the businesses' lots full. Just ask yourself, why do we have to be hosed at the pump? I know 11 cents doesn't seem like much, but right now in this economy even a penny makes a difference. So, c'mon, Poplar Bluff. I will continue to drive 180 miles round trip just to save that fuel. With a car that gets 30 miles to the gallon, it doesn't matter. But, I'll tell you this, I'm tired of seeing everybody who has to live in this community suffer under the little five letter word that this community should have posted under its population sign: greed! I've lived here 30 years and it just continues to get worse. C'mon, we used to be an All-American City. Shouldn't that reflect it like Cape does? We can do better. We should do better. Remember, Christmas is coming.

The mark

of the beast

In the end time there's gonna be the "Mark of the Beast" and if you take the "Mark of the Beast" --it tells in Revelations what's gonna happen to us. I was readin' the 18th Chapter today, I believe it was, and it tells what's gonna happen to ya if you take the "Mark of the Beast." It pays to get saved and get your heart right with God, then you won't want to go with the "Mark of the Beast." You can't buy or sell or anything, eat or won't have nothing to eat. You can read it and find out for yourself. Read the rest of the chapter in the book of Revelations.
