Questioning

unemployment

I think it would be interesting to have some estimate of how many of the 9.1 percentage of the unemployed cannot get employment because they cannot pass the drug test. It's probably not a great percentage, but I am sure that it is higher than we suspect without some figures. Thank you.

Filter water

I'd like to ask if anyone has thought about using those filtered bottles and filtered straws that they use in Third World Countries for Water District Two? I know we do grants from U. S. to Africa for that, so why doesn't the U. S. do grants for the U.S.? Thank you.

Saying

'goodbye' to house guests

What is wrong with this country? Especially Poplar Bluff. You feel sorry for someone. They're homeless on the street when it's cold and you take 'em in, feed 'em and let 'em spend the night and they change their mail to your address unbeknownst to you and you cain't put 'em out. The cops tell you they can stay there as long as they want. You gotta go to court to get 'em out. And they call you everything in the book. They steal your stuff. They beat your little pets. They call you everything in the world and the cops won't do nothin' about it. Well they got a right to live there. You let 'em come in. Baloney! They're guests. You oughta be able to tell a guest when to leave. What's wrong with this world? Somebody's gotta change the law or something or teach the police department about the laws because I say when you invite someone to stay all night you don't invite 'em forever and the police department oughta be able put 'em out. Thank you.

More businesses needed locally

Hurrah for the person who wrote into Speak Out Wednesday the 21st. They see the light. I agree. We do need Target, Red Lobster and Denny's. Hwy. 60/67. What a great place for Denny's. Right, Mr. Halter?

Fix the DAR

vend machines

Two comments. If you want to sell papers, you need to fix the crappy paper machines that you have. I just tried to buy--it gave me my money back -- which that's a good, you know, good thing. But, it won't unlock and it won't sell me a paper.

The other comment I had -- Friday's paper, yet again, you had one of those stale commentaries from someone that we hear from about two times a month in "Letters to the Editor." And, they really say nothing. And, all they are doing is just scaring people. They offer no solutions. They just rant and rave for several paragraphs about the way things are and, you guys, need to quit catering to these same individuals all the time. Okay? Thank you.
